Project Return – Vietnam Revisited Posted: August 19th 2010 Our production of “Project Return – Vietnam Revisited” will mark the 35th year anniversary for the END of the Vietnam War. Our tribute will be a musical presentation featuring not only patriotic music, but Music from the Broadway show: Miss Saigon. Our production will start with our American Troops at the US Embassy in Saigon, performing the music to: America the Beautiful. Miss Saigon is a classic love story written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michael Schönberg (the creators of “Les Misérables”). The plot was inspired by Puccini's “Madame Butterfly.” It brings to the modern world a moving testament to the human spirit and a scathing indictment of the tragedies of war. In the turmoil of the Vietnam War, an American soldier and a Vietnamese girl fall in love, only to be separated during the fall of Saigon. Their struggles to find each other over the ensuing years ends in tragedy for her and a fighting chance for the child he never knew he had. Some of the Musical selections we will be performing: “America the Beautiful, Overture to Miss Saigon, Sun and Moon, Morning of the Dragon, and Kim’s Nightmare and Why God Why” |
